16 years is how long I have been married! Eeeeek!
It was our wedding anniversary recently & like (I suspect) many other couples we have got a bit down trodden by life & children. I thought it was time to use my sewing machine to show him that despite the lack of sleep, the scooters in the hallway, the mudpies in the cakepans, university level maths for 11 year olds & the early saturday morning netball, that I do still love him.

I think he liked it.
( I’m almost sure, however, he’d have prefered a carton of beer & the house to himself for a night)

p.s It was framed nicely behind glass but my three year old knocked it off the wall & broke it & because we are so busy with the maths, scooters, netball etc I’m sure it will stay like this for a while!!
p.p.s I used Anna Marie Horners Little folks cotton voile & reverse appliqued the lettering, revealing the white base fabric.
Well I am certainly back into the swing of things with the first Sew-Along classes well underway. The first Sew-Along Social class had a really eclectic mix of projects on the go from hand embroidery, doll making, mastering the art of adding piping to cushions & trying to work out the finer points of vintage french dress making patterns!!! That one had Jemima on her toes!. It was a really fun evening & I hope everyone went away feeling like they had achieved something.
There are lots of photos on Jemimas Tied with a Ribbon website.
Jemima & I have both been following Aneela Hoeys Scrappy Quilt Along. I have a mountain of scraps & have really enjoyed making her scrappy blocks – I LOVE this random way of sewing – no accurate seam allowances or precise colour matching to worry about . . . just go with the flow & let it simply happen. We are both aiming to produce picnic rugs when we have put enough together & due to the size of my scrap bucket I think I might just have enough to make more than a few! Anyway, as we love them we are running a Scrappy Block workshop at the next Social evening so if you don’t have a project on the go or would like to make a few, bring your scraps, cutter & machine along. The next Social evening is June 7th if you would like to join us you are more than welcome. Booking are with Jemima at Tied with a Ribbon

Crazy Scrappy Quilt Along by Aneela Hoey - Check out her blog as she has lots of lovely things
We started the ‘Sew-Along for You‘ classes with the tote bag. I’ve made a few of these in my time & can now knock one up in less than an hour so for those last minute ‘oh-my-god-I-forgot-your-birthday’ presents they are perfect. The best thing about them is they are totally reversable & the added flower is on a brooch pin so it can be moved.
Tomorrow night we’re teaching the aprons which includes ruffles, hemming & pockets . . . quite a lot to do in 2 hours!!

We are planning more classes next term, thinking about doing things for the table & christmas!! eeeek . . . it comes around sooner then you think doesn’t it!
Keep you posted

I’ve been a little distracted lately . . . going off on ‘crafting tangents’!
my ‘to-do’ pile didn’t get a look in over the easter break but I had a lot of fun with other bits & pieces.

the Royal wedding was a chance to decorate the house, throw on a fancy frock, pop a few corks & enjoy the spectacle with my girl friends.
. . and then there was Friday!

Friday the cat!
Heidi took a shine to our friends cat Friday & spent most of the easter weekend using the poor creature like a handbag . . . the cat barely touched the ground all weekend & it sent me on a ‘cat’ tangent.

We spend many a long weekend with Fridays owner sat around the table drinking oodles of tea & playing cards so it seamed the perfect idea to turn Friday into a tea cosy – not literally of course! (Fridays owner however, only drinks coffee so perhaps i really should have made a coffee cosy instead!)
Friday the tea cosy then turned into Friday the cushion . . . fun playing with text, colour & perfecting my skills in piping . . so much better spending an evening in the sewing room then watching the footy!
